![]() It does fine and has more power than the TW. The TW doesn't have enough power to really get in trouble, but does have enough to get you out of trouble. I heard "when in doubt, power it out" as a rule for dirt riding. I did take the TW on single track and the bike did fine even though I had no idea what to do. Works great to alleviate monkey butt on long rides. I use a sheepskin pad cut from a cheap IKEA rug. The seat is fairly comfortable, not overly padded. I have a few inches shorter than you - 5' 8", 30" inseam. It doesnt do anything exceptionally well but it does do almost everything. It is a great bike that can do almost anything (except long, high speed highway travel). I am an experienced rider, over 30 years. I really can't imagine a better bike for me to start out on! so, here in a few hours, I'll be going and signing the adoption papers on my new Versys! Got a call a couple hours ago and they were able to get me lower APR and GAP insurance, all of that good stuff. This was late in the afternoon yesterday, so I had to wait until today to find out if they were gonna be able to make me a 'better offer' or not. I already had secured financing through a credit union but the dealership said it was likely they'd be able to beat it. I only mention all of this in case any other beginners out there are wondering if this is the bike for them or not.Īnyway, we sat down, talked price a little. I never once felt unstable or nervous once I got going. However, this bike was suuuper easy for me to ride, shift, maneuver, all of it. I was actually super fucking nervous because my prior riding experience has been limited to what I did in a motorcycle learner's course on a Yamaha TW-200 in a parking lot, and I don't think I ever got above 20 mph. So, the sales guy hopped on another bike and led me around for a test ride. I wasn't expecting them to allow me to take a new bike on a test drive based on stories I've heard from folks online and even a coworker of mine who went to this same dealership a few years back for a bike, but I digress. I asked if they had any demo days or anytime specific where I could take a Versys for a spin, and surprisingly they told me I could just go hop on it and take a ride around the neighborhood behind the dealership. ![]() UPDATE: I went to a local dealership here that had one lonely little 2019 Kawasaki Versys X-300 in stock to sit on it and see how well I handled maneuvering it, if my feet reached the ground fine (I'm 5'11" so. So I’ve officially had her sideways, and not in the fun way. I know this because while sitting on the bike in my garage making vroom vroom sounds immediately after installation, I got off the bike without the kickstand down. The crash bars will keep the stock blinker off of the ground in a tip over. But the bars fit perfectly and are high quality with solid hardware included. I was a little nervous to be using actual engine mount bolts, and access for the nut on the back end of them is tight. Nearly 1/3 of my install time was unwrapping the damn things! I got a fair discount code off of their Facebook (for Valentine’s Day of all things) and shipping was free. I decided to go for the crash bars because I thought they’d offer a fair amount of protection and They will be a good mounting point for future add-ons such as lighting or highway pegs. I installed a set of T-Rex Racing crash bars and front axle sliders on my 2015 Versys 650 tonight. ![]()
